does any one in here know how to explain limits and derivatives ( calculus) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes! what would you like to know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm stuck on this one problem and I reading my text book but i stilll don't get function and d... the problem says ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the function f whose graph is given state the value of each quanity if it exists. if it does not exist explain why the first graph is lim f(x) x arrow 1 ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you mean: \[\lim_{x \rightarrow 1} f(x)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you solve these kind of prolems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have the graph? or did they give you what f(x) was

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I have a graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are three points at three

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. well it's basically asking you what happens on the graph when x is approaching 1. so you can just go ahead and plug in x=1 and see what that is on the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if you plug in x=1 and there's a point there on the graph, then the value exists. if you plug in x=1 and there is no point there, then the value does not exist.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you kinda understand? Lol here let me illustrate what I'm trying to say: |dw:1330594855909:dw| |dw:1330595003333:dw|
