Linear approximation Posting attachment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why is it a linear approximation of (0.1)^(1/2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that if (0.9)^(1/2) = (1-x)^(1/2) to be true x has to equal 0.1 but have no idea where the (0.1)^(1/2) comes from

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Everything seems logical except for the (0.1)^(1/2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We plug that into the equation of the tangent line for an approximation of where x=0.1 is and thus where (0.9)^(1/2) is it just an error?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im just going to assume it is an error and should be (0.9)^(1/2)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

that is a typo it should be .9 u're right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)
