What was the importance of Hitler's "Traitors" speech at the Munich Putsch to his rise to power?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mean his speech at his trial for the putsch? He made a declaration during the putsch itself, but it wasn't as important as the one at his trial. When he was allowed to speak at the trial, he used it as a propaganda moment to lay out his views. The public trial was also covered by the press and his speech was spread throughout Germany, many of whom became sympathetic to his views. Thanks to the speech, he and other conspirators got light sentences as well as new supporters from outside of his cell. The national coverage of the trial and his quoted speech had actually aided his cause.
