What conditions must be met for an infinite sum of rationals to evaluate to an irrational solution?

i don't think there are any "conditions" other than that the sum of irrationial suppse you had a ten sided die, you roll and write down the digits as they occur after a decimal point example .223652647895138... this sum would surely be irrational because it would not terminate or repeat, but the method for computing it is completely random. so i seriously doubt there is some sort of condition, other than that the sum is irrational
