What is the smallest life form that does not contain a nucleus?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

is a virus a life form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Prokaryotes do not contain nucleus, so that is that is the smallest life form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To Unckle: Virus does not consider as a life form

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

What are they then , they arent dead, they arnt just chemicals , viruses can reproduce what would you call them cmkc109

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Virus depends on host cells to reproduce which they cannot really reproduce on their own

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

can animals reproduce without other species ,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what it means life form is alive, animals are alive, virus does not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Virus only has protein coat and DNA whereas animals are multicellular You have to think about it more deeply instead of the surface level

OpenStudy (kainui):

There really isn't a consensus on whether viruses are alive or not. They are in the grey area between being living and nonliving. What it really comes down to is that "living" and "nonliving" are really just made-up labels created by people trying to make sense of things, because in the end we're all chemicals.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

there as single cellular organism that are considered alive where do you think viruses evolved from
