"the set of numbers to which a function does not apply is called domain" is it true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I found this definition in Spivak's book. Whereas what I learned and according to wikipedia a domain is a set of numbers that can be used in a function in order to get some output so by that definition the set of numbers to which function applies is called domain. isn't?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Domain is all the numbers of a function that are legal to use.
