Ohey again. xD What is the slope of a line that passes through the point (−1, 1) and is parallel to a line that passes through (3, 6) and (1, −2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

use the parallel line points to find the slope....(parallel lines have the same slope) (6 -(-2))/(3 - 1) = 8/2 the slope is 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would you explain how you got that? x3

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

|dw:1332031709705:dw| the slope of a line is rise/run in the picture the rise is 8 and run is 2 so the gradient is 4 I didn't use the initial point (-1, 1) as the question said parallel to the line through the points I used y2 = 6 y1 = -2 and x2 = 3 x1 = 1
