Simplify the square root of 229.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15.13

In simplified radical form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find factors for 229. Then, evaluate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know how to do this, it's just not working for me for some reason. Whenever I simplify it, it comes down to 15\[15\sqrt{4}\] Because if you square 15 you end up with 225 to which you then add four to get 229. However, four can be simplified down to the square root of two, but that would mean the answer is 17. It's not; it's 15.132745...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cannot add or subtract like that under brackets.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Well. I need someone to explain to me how to simplify the sqrt of 229.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cannot simplify this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Duh. Oh my gosh. I finally just realized that I'm doing something way off. Thank you all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem :) hope you figure it all out, if not, theres plenty of people here to help! best of luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

229 is a prime number. Can't be simplified into factors.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I know. That's why I'm an idiot :) It's so simple and easy to do but I just haven't had to do it in so long...

DID ANYONE EVER FIGURE THIS OUT ??
