please please helpz! You have learned about the difference between "quantitative" and "qualitative" data. Now is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your knowledge. Select one of the following objects and identify and describe 2 quantitative and 2 qualitative traits for that object. A ball, e.g.a tennis ball , basketball, baseball, or football. Your favorite pet A piece of furniture in your home A glass full of your favorite juice or soda Write a short paragraph describing your quantitative and qualitative observations.

OpenStudy (blues):

OK, it is helpful if you don't repost the question. Also, it's helpful if you explain what about the question you don't understand in addition to just posting the question and waiting for someone to answer it. Qualitative data measures qualities about an object like it's color or its texture. Quantitative data measures things about an object which can be counted or quantified, like mass or momentum. So when you look at a basketball, can you tell me two quantitative things about it and two qualitative things about it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basketball is brown and feels rough and i need help finding the mass, i dont really know how id expleain mass for a basketball

OpenStudy (blues):

Those are good qualitative traits for the basketball. You'd find mass by weighing the basketball. Honestly, for your purposes weight would probably work as well as mass. They are not the same thing (to a physicist) but they are related. Other quantitative things you could measure about it are its circumference or the air pressure inside it, or even how high it bounces when dropped from a certain height. Clear?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay yes very clear:) im gonna find the weight of a basketball and air pressure and then i will put it all togeth and could you tell me if it sounds good?

OpenStudy (blues):

Yes, but PM me as I'm going offline soon.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a basketball is brown and feels rough the basketball weighs 22 ounces? is that a good qualatative and quantatative answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it's fine, but you're still lacking one quantitative variable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It shouldn't be that hard, what else about the basketball can be measured? Hint: Geometry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

air pressure right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, you could pick that. or the diameter or even the circumference of the ball. Anything can be measured and compared is a quantitative variable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the circumfrence is 30 inches so how would i put the whole thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That would be your second quantitative trait/variable, To summarize it up you know have: Circumference & Weight (2 quantitative variable) Color and "feel" Two qualitive variables.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would i put it like this? a basketball is brown and feels rough the basketballl weighs 22 ounces and the circumfrence is 30 inches?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not sure in what manner you're suppose to present the data, but you've all the traits specified by the question in that statement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks so much guys! i really appreciate it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would be a short paragraph explaining the observations. any ideas?

OpenStudy (blues):

Well you write about your two quantitative traits and two quantitative traits in words and sentences...
