OpenStudy (rissa):

Is the relationship shown by the data linear? If so, model the data with an equation.

OpenStudy (rissa):

OpenStudy (amistre64):

moves by 3 and moves by 1 each time; thats consistently linear to me

OpenStudy (amistre64):

slope is defined as change in y divided by change in x y moves -1 for every +3 in x slope = -1/3 use any point given to define the line using that as a slope

OpenStudy (rissa):

ah i'm still really confused, :/ A. The relationship is not linear. B. The relationship is linear; y + 5 = (x – 9). C. The relationship is linear; y – 9 = (x + 5). D. The relationship is linear; y + 5 = (x – 9). are my choices, i think its d but not really sure. :|

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the relationship is definantly linear

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but the slope is not present in the answer choices

OpenStudy (amistre64):

option C has the correct point placement .... but lacks the proper slope

OpenStudy (rissa):

thank you, i'd assume this is why i'm struggling with this class. the books are no help.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if those are your options, there is most likely a typo in the book

OpenStudy (rissa):

those are my exact options, it seems like a lot of the questions are missing some type of information which makes it difficult. Then when i think i know what i'm doing, i get the answers wrong on my assignments anyway.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yeah, building confidence starts with having the right options to pick from
