Can we leave an expression with negative exponents? How do we take care of negative exponents?

OpenStudy (callisto):

\[a^{-n} = 1/(a^n)\]

Could you please elaborate in text form as well

OpenStudy (callisto):

It's...a property....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In general no. An expression isn't considered to be in simplest form if the exponents are negative. if you use the quotient properties of exponents (Callisto has demonstrated) you can remove the negative exponents.
