x² – 81x = 19 1; 19 –1; 19 3; 6 –3; 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 -81x -19 = 0 a = 1 b = -81 c = -19 You can plug these values into the quadratic formula to solve for your two x-values. http://0.tqn.com/d/create/1/0/i/9/9/-/Quadratic.formula.jpg

*or factor? But I'm not sure how that could be done with this one hehe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I don't think it can either. Because all those options you gave at the top are nice integer solutions. If it had nice integer solutions, then it would be able to factor - which it can't.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@meganluvcolin are you sure those are the options? :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm, maybe the problem has the wrong numbers. B/c you won't get clean numbers for your x-values :-/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, that's the only options it says above it "If necessary, round to the nearest hundredth."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well not on here but on the question page

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just ask your instructor about this one. Tell them how you did it and came out with 81.something and 0.2something. I'm sure whoever typed up the problem must have put in the wrong numbers on accident.

ok, thanks
