i need to use reasoning to answer this and also need to find x intercept and y intercept and maxium and minimum please help f(x)=x(x+6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug zero in for x and we get zero for y. so this means the x intercept is (0.0). then we plug zero in for y and get x=0 or -6. so the y intercepts are (0,0) and (-6,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok how do u get min and max?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me with two more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep go ahead man

f(x)=-(x+3)(x-5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the minimum occurs at x = -3, the midpoint of your x=-6 and x=0. plugging that value of x=-3 into your expression x(x+6) you get -3*(-3+6) = -9. This is your minimum value of your function (vertex).

sorry, looks like dpalnc is better at this! i am in calc 3 and have not seen these in ages, but looks like i need to brush up myself! lol

ok
