How do I solve this equation: f(x)=(x/2)-5? The answer is supposed to be 2f(x)+10, how?

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

just simplify the thing, rearrange it to write x in terms of f(x).. try once and post if you get it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh the answer is: x=2f(x) + 10

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

yeah.. i think it clicked, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but I don't know how.. o.o I know that I have to sub x to y and transpose but I don't know how to do for fractions..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh in that way, inverse function

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What did it ask for? Please state the problem exactly as written in your book.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright. Solve each equation for x. The equation I want to solve for x is, f(x) = x/2 - 5

OpenStudy (mertsj):

so add 5 to both sides and then multiply both sides by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but why is the answer: x=2f(x) + 10?
