The picture shows a plant exactly like this one http://www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/beauty/iris/louisiana/images/iris_brevicaulis_tgb_lg.jpg It shows leaves with parallel veins as well. My question is wouldn't it be accurate to say that it is a seed plan a monocot and a sporophyte? The plants shown here are Question 4 options: A) eudicots. B) monocots. C) sporophytes. D) seed plants. E) B and C

OpenStudy (blues):

I think it is probably a monocot; however, I am not at all good with plants.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking monocot but monocots are within angiosperms (eg. seed plants) and angiosperms have a dominant sporophyte stage and flowering is part of the sporophyte stage....hence I have no idea what to put. Although monocot would be the simplest answer.

OpenStudy (blues):

If the picture in the book is an iris (like the picture you uploaded), it's division is monocot. Monocot is the simplest answer. I think it's an ambiguous question. Not that it is particularly helpful to you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is an iris :) Campbell and Reece with their poorly vetted ambiguous questions. It really may drive me batty by the end of the semester.

OpenStudy (blues):

I wish there was some way to do something about the questions, but there really isn't. When is the end of the semester for you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Early May.

Some time yet. My exams are in early June.. It have to go but it's been nice chatting!
