in asexual reproduction are these offspring are genetically identical or different?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The offspring are genetically identical in asexual reproduction - -there's no meiosis and fertilization to change the chromosomes and no crossover at meiosis to swap bits of the chromosomes. Interestingly, there are some reports of captive sharks kept in isolation that have given rise to offspring on their own (this is called parthenogenesis, from the greek for "virgin" and "birth")

okhezzz.....thnx for ur xtra info :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did not know that parthenogenesis has been seen in sharks, I thought was a way of asexual reproduction of animals such as platelmynthes but never in chordates.
