How can the same object be moving to one person, yet stationary to another person?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well it all depends on your frame of reference. If you are in a train and see somebody on the road who is actually standing still your perspective is that he is moving where as to somebody who is on the ground he is not. It's all relative

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Here's another example: I carry a book. To me, the book isn't moving. But to you, the book is moving.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends if your talking about perspective

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Another example. I take my dog downstairs in the elevator to go for the walk. While we're in the elevator, the dog doesn't appear to be moving to me. This is a glass elevator. To you, the dog is moving.

OpenStudy (nono):

if u and me standing still in earth ,for u and for me we both are standing still with respect to other....but an alien who is in moon seeing us moving because of earth rotation and revolution ......so for him we are moving......
