My conclusion is the same as experimentX. Break the figure into two sections by a vertical line from B. The rectangle is six times as wide, and half as tall, to get three times the original area. Similarly, the triangle has a base (the vertical line we added to the figure) half as long as the original, with a height six times as tall. Again, three times the original area.
