OpenStudy (lilai3):

A jar holds 15 red pencils and 10 blue pencils. One pencil is chosen, not replaced, and another pencil is chosen. What is the probability of drawing 2 red pencils from the jar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Didn't I answer that yesterday already? 15/25 * 14/24 = 7/20

OpenStudy (lilai3):

u did? x__________x

OpenStudy (lilai3):

well i couldn't keep track cuz den it said always,"uh-oh lost connection trying to reconnect now..."...........................................-____-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have 15 out of 25 chances to get a red pencil first. Since you assume that you have picked a red one (to satisfy the condition you're looking for) you now have 14 red pencils left out of 24 total pencils. so this means 14 /24 for your second probability. Bottom line, that'll give you 15/25 * 14/24 which you can simplify to 7/20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, yes, true, got the same problem as well. no biggie :-)
