OpenStudy (lilai3):

Tia, Bianca, and Hiroko live in towns of Parkside, Westlake, and Summerviille, but not necessarily in that order. Tia and her friend that lives in Westlake helped Bianca with her chores. Bianca does not live in Parkside. Where does Tia live? Did you use inductive or deductive reasoning? Please also explain your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know what that is but heres how i did it: tia and bianca dont live in westlake so it must be hiroko that lives there. bianca does npt live in parkside so she lives in summerville. and so tia probably lives in parkside

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its deductive

OpenStudy (lilai3):

don't worry ..i don't either...

OpenStudy (lilai3):

hahah i fanned you

OpenStudy (lilai3):

thank you sooo mcuh, @smartbum!

OpenStudy (lilai3):

much* may thanks to you..i gave you a medal, too! :]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok no problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (lilai3):

<333

OpenStudy (lilai3):

gladly..it's a "reward" for helping me! and i am so sorry you don't haf any fans.. so i decided to fan you...tee hee :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (lilai3):

Draw a right triangle. Mark the midpoints of each side of the triangle and draw a smaller triangle by connecting the midpoints. Do this several more times. What can you conclude about the smaller triangle? Did you use inductive or deductive reasoning?

OpenStudy (lilai3):

^help^ please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh man, im not sure i get what this inductive deductive stuff is though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean i guess the smaller triangles perimeter is half of the bigger triagles?

OpenStudy (lilai3):

ya, id din't get that one either.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think this one is induction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im trying to make sense of it for you by reading some wikipedia lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mathematical induction is a method of mathematical proof typically used to establish that a given statement is true for all natural numbers (positive integers). It is done by proving that the first statement in the infinite sequence of statements is true, and then proving that if any one statement in the infinite sequence of statements is true, then so is the next one

OpenStudy (lilai3):

lol and thanks for pitting you're time into solving my problem..i appreciate you greatly.... smartbum... BTW, i wanted to ask you.. r u really a smart bumm? like nerdy cool? geeky gool?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats like the triangles. if one part of the pattern is the same it should contiinue

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wish ahaha

OpenStudy (lilai3):

thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

youre welcome
