How can you tell when a quadratic equation has no real solutions? Answer when the radicand is not a perfect square when b in the quadratic formula is greater than the radicand when the radicand is negative when the radicand equals zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what happens when you take the square root of a negative number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not possible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's what happens then... no real solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its the 3rd one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. :)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

a quadratic ax^2 +bx +c = y use the discriminat to check on the type of solutions the discrimiant is b^2 - 4ac..... from the general quadratic formula < 0 no real solutions = 0 equal solutions > 0 real and unequal solutions

screw u
