Can an object have a varying speed if its velocity is constant?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

By definition, velocity is a vector that has both magnitude and direction. If the velocity is constant, both the magnitude and the direction are constant. Speed on the other hand is just the magnitude of the velocity. Hence if velocity is constant, can speed vary?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Make sense?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

"if velocity is constant, can speed vary?" No, it cannot.
