Determine an expression for the cost
350/n To graph, make an X,Y table, then plug in numbers for n. Do about 5 points.
let n be the number of students no. of cars needed = n/60 ( round up the number) cost = 350 x no of car needed = 350 x n/60 = 35n/6
Sorry , I don't know much about the types of function :(
then , you just need to multiply 350 by the number of buses to get the cost. Hmm.. do you understand how it comes?
@kk1022 i dont do those stuffs
1st one
What do you think? Tell me your guess with explanation first ...
@kk1022 my dear frnd i aam that person who posted the answer!
Hmm back to the question, can you tell me your guess first?
alright
i remember u posted in yahooans..
Hmm, I'm not sure about your explanation. Personally, i also think that the first one gives more info. That is because you can deduce the number of bus you rent as well as finding the total cost. However, for the second one, you can only find the number of buses and the total cost, but not the number of students present.
if n is the number of students, then you have a piecewise function that will look something like this for \[1\leq n\leq 60, C=350\] \[61\leq n \leq 120, C=700\] etc
we can write it fancier if need be, but that is the idea right?
For example, when i tell you there are 72 students, you can know that you need 2 buses, and the cost is 350x2 = 700 but when i tell you there is 2 buses, you don't know exactly how many students are there.
you can just write it as a piecewise function i guess, make up your own formula
why not, but maybe need ceiling for your set up
\[C(n)=350\lceil\frac{n}{60}\rceil\]
copy the one i pasted, but basically it looks just like \[y=\lceil x \rceil\] but with interval on the x axis from 0 to 60 instead of 0 to 1 and on the y axis go up in units of 350 instead of 1
