no problem, so any time you are looking for the area of a shape you can look up the formula or divide the shape up into pieces you know how to find the area of. Do you know how to find the area of a triangle?

You are right but now that I look closer I see that you don't have that information. I assume that they will want you to use trig to find it, I'll have to take a look at some notes to figure it out.
the interior angles of a regular octagon are 135 degrees. I believe the radian you have would divide that angle exactly in half. Which would give you a triangle with the angles 90, 157.5 and 22.5. Have you been working with trig to solve triangles when you know 3 angles and one side?
