-5(x+1) ________ - 5 (x-1) _______________ -5(x+1) ________ + 5 (x-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the lines are division.. so is two fractions basically

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

The best way to start would probably be to change the "numerator" and the "denominator" into one fraction only. Have you tried doing that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant seem to remember any of the rules that are probably necessary here.. do you?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

hmmm. yepp :DDD |dw:1333323666740:dw| the drawing means that you multiply the denominator of the first fraction to the denominator of the second fraction. That becomes your LCD and the denominator of the "new" fraction. Then, multiply the denominator of the first fraction to the numerator of the second fraction, and the second denominator to the first numerator. Proceed to do the operation. Is the explanation clear enough?
