Write an algebraic equation for the following. The sum of twice a and four times y is equal to thirteen. A. a + y = 13 B. 2a - 4y = 13 C. 2a(4y) = 13 D. 2a + 4y = 13

OpenStudy (phi):

sum of twice a and four times y is equal to thirteen. sum means + twice a means 2 times a or 2a four times y means (let me think) four times y or 4y is equal means = thirteen means 13 so, + 2a 4y = 13 but we would put the + sign between 2a and 4y 2a+4y = 13 because order doesn't matter, the answer might also be 4y+2a= 13
