Strength of the League of Nations. Instead of all nations banding together to stop aggression, it turned out to be a paper tiger that didn't do much to halt any of the factors that led to WW2. A lot of talk, not a lot of action, basically.

I would think that it would be The Great Depression. The president stated he wouldn't do anything that would hurt the economy of America. He also stated that they [America] were to remain neutral so as to avoid war debt, basically.

In a way that's true. Roosevelt's opponents didn't want America to get involved in another war. There was a lot of resistance to even helping Europe out when the war started. But the Depression made things a lot worse around the world. It made many people desperate for solutions, especially in Germany where their money was essentially worthless. The Depression made their problems even worse opening the way for someone like Hitler to take power by promising to solve all their problems.
