is it only the thermal kinetic energy of electrons that cause seeback effect..if it were so then why do we join two 'different' metals to form the junctions that are kept at different temperatures??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you wouldnt use different metals you couldnt measure the tiny voltage caused by the seebeck effect. two different metals have different ways to respond to the seebeck effect due to different particle density and different electric conductance - so there remains a small voltage.

|dw:1245695108884:dw|irrespective of the nature of metal, electrons will always flow from high to low temp...to how come the circuit "recycles eletrons"..after all ,with time, the hot end will become too positive to let more electron go and soon the current will stop..
