Convert -6x^2+35.16x-44.44=y to a(x-h)^2+k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[-6 (x-2.93)^2+7.0694\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you do that?

@satellite73 Would you help us understand how to get this answer? Thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

Thank You!

i cheated and used wolfram ok it is a pain but not that hard. you know it is going to be \[y=-6(x-h)^2+k\] for some h and k to find h is the same as finding the first coordinate of the vertex \[-\frac{b}{2a}\] in this case you have \[-\frac{35.16}{-12}=2.93\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you know it is going to be \[y=-6(x-2.93)^2+k\] and to find k, replace x in the original equation by 2.93 and see what you get use a calculator, you will get 7.0694

@satellite73 THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

yw, my pleasure
