I just watched the video and it wasn't clear how many chromosome pairs are visible at the beginning of mitosis? Also, how many are in each daughter cell at the end of mitosis. Can someone help clarify?

OpenStudy (blues):

I don't know what video you refer to, but this mitosis in general: A normal cell has one pair of each kind of chromosome - that is, it has two chromosomes of type A, two chromosomes of type B and so on. When committing itself to divide, a cell duplicates all its chromosomes. Then it has two pairs of chromosome type A for four chromosomes all told. When it divides, one pair goes to one daughter cell; the other pair goes to the other daughter cell. Hope this is helpful.
