If Sin alpha is 5/13, and Cot beta is 4/3, and neither are in Q1. I need to find tan (alpha + beta) and cos (alpha - beta).

Wait... are they two seperate triangles because theres a beta and alpha angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So these arent seperate tri?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes they are from what i can see

(quadrant 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So alpha is in Q2, and beta in Q3? Thats what I got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, each trig function is positive in these quadrants: |dw:1334517017416:dw|. So sin is positive in Q1 and Q2. Its not Q1 so its Q2. If it was Q3, then sin would be negative.... and sin alpha is positive, so alpha has to be in Q2
