Is it better to read out loud, or read in your mind a bunch of notes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is completely up to you. If you are an auditory learner (one who learns best through what they hear), reading aloud would be more beneficial. However if you are a visual learner, reading them silently would be sufficient.

What is your source?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Yeah, basically you will need to work out what type of learner you are (Like LeahNeal says). Try both methods and see which one works for you :) It's a pretty widely excepted educational theory (that people have different learning styles, I mean). Though if you're writing a paper and need some sources there are an awful lot out there, I'd just start with "learning styles" in google scholar.

Personally for me, it is better to read out loud. I think this helps me because it gives me a chance to say the words instead of just reading them, and that helps the notes sink in more for me. It is a personal decision though whether you'd like to read them aloud or not.

Here is a quiz to explore what type of learner you are: http://bit.ly/KRiGt9

It matters completely of how YOU think it is, not our bias of opinion. So, if u r in class, and the teacher sees that you read aloud, its okay, they justg move you somewhere else. But for notes, I just suggest that you can be organized better, so if you do read the boring notes, you can have it all easier to comprehend an d understand, simple.

But, if you want to really know, search up on google some surveys of what learner you are. I did it, and I'm an auditory learner.
