I'm a faculty member, and some of my colleagues at Georgia Tech are using Piazza.com. If you are familiar with that platform, what does OpenStudy offer that a student can't get through Piazza? Or why would I encourage my students to study through OpenStudy instead of Piazza?
Piazza is a site—last I checked—designed to bring classes together. That's fine, but at OpenStudy we have a broader vision that goes beyond a single classroom, beyond a single course, and beyond a single institution. We want to bring everyone together who is studying the same thing at the same time and put them in one big study group. The idea here is that I should not limit myself only to the people in my class when I have the world available to me. I hope that explains the differences decently well. Piazza is definitely the better tool for communications and answers within the course, but if you have a more general problem and/or no one from your class is answering or can answer, there are usually people on OpenStudy from all different walks of life and experience levels—from Ph.D candidates in math at MIT to retired engineers to former teachers and professors—who can answer questions as well, often at all times of the day and night.
Understood, thanks.
No problem! Let us know if there are any other questions we can help you with :)
