6x+(5x-8) Simply the expression.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11x-8

I have to show my work, what would the work be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Combine like terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In this case, the parenthesis can be dropped because there are no like terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it is combining like terms

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Simply collect like terms. the x^2's would be added as the operation indicates, as well as the x's, and the constants: thus: 6x + 5x - 8 11 x - 8

Lol, dang it Katrina, taking my questions :D

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Lol >:P

Pretty much you add your x's and the constants (ones without any x's), and voila! Answer is there. Be sure though, that when doing problems like these, x^2 is different from x. So they are their own little thing.
