Factor using the GCF: 16m + 4n - 12p

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

4(4m+n-3p)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The process for this is fairly straightforward: Find the factors of each coefficient (the number before the letter/variable). Here: The factors of 16 are 1,2,4 and 16. The factors of 4 are 1,2 and 4. The factors of 12 are 1,2,3,4,6 and 12. Each of these three numbers have three factors in common: 1,2 and 4. Obviously 4 is the largest and hence is the greatest common factor (GCF). As Jhonyy9 correctly pointed out, the 4 can be divided out of each term to give 4(4m+n-3p).
