Solve the equation 7/8 p - 4 = 10 solve for p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know the steps but i forgot the first step dont i add 4 both sides then do reciprocal to make 7/8 to 8/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

making p=14 dividing p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

after you add 4 to both sides, you can multiply both sides by 8...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so then if i multiply both sides i would get 80

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait nvm 8x14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

112

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and what do you get on the left side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldnt it be 8x8 64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its (7/8) p * 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait im confused how to muiltiply that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried it didnt make sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you have 8/8... it will equal to 1... so by multiplying both sides by 8 you get to get rid of the denominator in that equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if that makes 1 would i get 7/1p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, just to clarify.. is the p on the bottom of the fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm guessing that the equation was (7/8) p - 4 = 10.. then you'd add 4 to both sides and get (7/8) p = 14.. then multiply both sides by 8.. you'd get 7p = 112... and lastly to solve for p divide both sides by 7... p = 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it was 7over 8 no parrethesis
