why isnt Earth's core a permanent magnet? please answer simply

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

The Earth's core is much too hot to be permanently magnetized. I am not sure how hot--more than 3000 deg C I think--but permanent magnetism disappears around 500 deg. or lower, depending on the material.

According to google, the temperature of lava is around 1300 to 1800 ... core must be much hotter.

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

yeah, and that prevents earth from being a permanent magnet.. i guess..
