Two cards are selected at random without replacement from a well-shuffled deck of 52 playing cards. Find the probability of not getting a pair. How do I do this problem?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

First, just pick a card. Any card. Now you have 51 cards left. Three of those 51 cards have the same number as the card you just picked. Thus, you have a \[{51-3 \over 51}={48 \over 51}\]Chance of not getting a pair.

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Because three cards have the same value.

Oh ok! Thank you!!

You're welcome.
