Photoelectric effect
Can anyone explain how it works, when to apply and so on?
photoelectrons = electrons which accepts the energy from photon photon = packets of energy Take photocell as an example When light shines , photons make collision with the electrons. If a photon has energy exactly equal to the difference between any two energy level, the photon transfers energy to an electron. (one-to-one process) The electron gain energy. If it gains enough energy, it can escape from the object as a form of photoelecton. That's photoelectic effect. :D Photoelectric effect can be used in photocell. When light shines on photocell, the electrons gain energy and escape to reach cathode, current forms.
