What is the inverse of the statement shown below? “In an isosceles triangle, the base angles are equal.” If the triangle is isosceles, then the base angles of the triangle are equal. If the triangle is not isosceles, then the base angles of the triangle are not equal. If the base angles of a triangle are not equal, then the triangle is not isosceles. If the base angles of a triangle are equal, then the triangle is an isosceles triangle. I think it is the third option but I'm not sure

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

It would be the second option. The inverse of a logical statement "If p then q" is "If not p then not q."

See now that makes more sense. The text book didn't say it like that -.-" It had to go all Gibberish on me

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Don't you love those textbooks? They're always so helpful. =D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha, thank you for the help!

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Also, just fyi, the third statement would be the contrapositive, and the fourth would be called the converse.
