i really dont know how to explain this can any one help with this question:Explain what it means when we say a substance is magnetic.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure if this is an adequate answer but I researched a bit and found this. "It means the atoms are lined up in such a way as to create a magnetic field loop that exits from one side or end of the substance and reenters at the opposite side or end."

hmm i got that too,ill just put that as my anser..thanks a lot!:)

if a substance is said to be magnetic, it is simply attracted by a magnet. if it is paramagnetic, it is repelled by a magnet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Magnetic properties of a substance depends on the structure of its valence electrons. It has something to do with orbitals so I suggest you study about molecular geometry of a compound/substance first

It's the way a substance's atoms fit together, being pulled and pushed from all sides equally. exists in metallic bonds
