Seven colored balls are in a bag. Only three are black. Alex randomly picks out a black ball and keeps it. When he reaches back into the bag, what is the probability that he will pick another black ball? ----- I just wanna make sure I got this one right, my answer was 2/7.

Yeah You Were Right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should be 2/6. Because there were 7 balls in the bag. He took one out, so that left 6 balls, and since he didn't put it back in, there are only 6 for the second draw.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you still keep the same denominator because he started off with 7 balls

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, the probability of the first one being black was 1/7, but there is now less balls in the bag, why would the number stay the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because he isnt changing how many were in the bag to start with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the number of balls that were first in the bag isn't changing. But it's asking about on the second pull. There were 7 balls, 3 were black. So the probability of the first was 3/7. because 3 our of 7 was black. Now it's asking about the second pull. There are 6 balls left, two are black. So 2/6.

i dont think thats right but whatever
