I'm having trouble with Mixture Word Problems. I don't understand where things are supposed to go on the table. For example: How many grams of sugar must be added to 60 grams of solution that is 32% sugar to obtain a solution that is 50% sugar? How do I set up the table?

i am not sure about a table, but we can solve this with an equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have 60 grams of solution that is 32% suger, so before you start adding sugar you have \(.32\times 60=19.2\) grams of sugar lets call the number of grams of sugar you have "x". then if you add x grams of sugar you will have \(19.2+x\) grams of sugar altogether, and \(60+x\) grams of solution. you want this \(60+x\) grams to be 50% sugar, so set \[19.2+x=.5(60+x)\] and solve for x
