Ultraviolet light can damage skin. What component of a skin cell is responsible for absorbing ultraviolet light?
A. collagen B. dermis C. epidermis D. melanin
lets start by u crossing out 2 answers. when u have narrowed down to 2 , we'll make more progress
Okay well I'm pretty sure it's either dermis or epidermis
Because I don't think it's collagen or melanin...
i think this link of daily science may help you to get to the answer and may even give you more information...... http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/10/071001160645.htm
i paritally disagree. dermis is indeed out of the question. eipdermis is the location when uv is absorbed, but it is by a specific protein, secreted by a distinict cell type which then disperses is to keratinocytes as membrane coated packets. if u striked out dermis then take out collagen as well - as it is a major extra cellular protein of connective tissue (as the dermis) u r left with... the answer
Melanin?
So it's not epidermis?
?!?!?
melanin is the correct answer - and we've got a winner!
Thank you!

Epidermis responds to UV light entry by thickening epidermis. Melanocytes releases Melanin to paracrin cells so they can protect themself from UV light. And a few other cascades of mechanism light synthesis of 0.25 Dihydroxy
