90% of the ABC Town has carpet. 10% of the carpet owners buys Great Cleaner. And 9.5% of the whole town buys Great Cleaner. What is the percentage of people who don't have carpet buys Great Cleaner?
how did you get that?
Let the total of ABC town is 100.
Then 90 of the ABC Town has carpet.
Let x be the number of people in the whole town No. of ppl who have a carpet = 90% (x) = 0.9x No of ppl has a carpet and use GC = 0.9x (10%) = 0.09x No of ppl in the whole town use GC = 9.5% (x) = 0.095x No. of ppl who don't have a carpet but use GC = 0.095x - 0.09x = 0.005x % required = 0.005x / x (100%) = 0.5%
10% of the carpet owners buys Great Cleaner which means 9 of the carpet owners.
Okay Callisto answered it well.
