What is the difference between the maximum (or minimum) value of the function and the value of x that produces the maximum (or minimum)? Explain your answer.

OpenStudy (callisto):

Let say, we have a graph y= (x-2)^2 +3. For the equation, we know that (2, 3) is the vertex the minimum value of the function is the y-coordinate of the vertex , that is 3. The value of x that produces the minimum is the corresponding x-value, that is 2 in this case. Is this clear to you?
