i need help please!!!! In April of 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King was jailed in Birmingham, Alabama for participating in a nonviolent protest. While in jail, he wrote one of the most important works on civil rights in America, Letter from Birmingham Jail. In this letter King addresses those who criticize civil rights advocates for breaking the law. King explains that there are two types of law, just and unjust: Now, what is the difference between the two? How does one determine whether a law is just or unjust? A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of G
God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To put it in the terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law is a human law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law. Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust. All segregation statutes are unjust because segregation distorts the soul and damages the personality. Do you agree with Dr. King’s definition of just and unjust laws? Why or why not? Are there any laws today that you feel are unjust? Explain.
i always agree with martin luther king if it wasn't for him i would've never wear the clothes im wearing now or having a computer or having beats headphones. and i think that goes for everyone else out there. but i don't see any other laws that feel unjust.
thank you
