What is the factor of a solution I found out of the equation (5x^2-15x-20) which was 5(x+1)(x-4) .. A. X+3 B. X+4 C. X-5 D. X+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+1 is a factor present in the solution right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not sure, that's the answer I think it is but it's asking me for a factor for the first equation stated here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm. X+1 will be a factor only if the equation is 5x^2-15x-20=0 sorry, i told that it was factor earlier.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you think x+4 would be a factor since it is an opposite

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a factor is something which gives a zero remainder when you divide the equation with that. X+4 doesnt give a zero remainder when i divide 5x^2-15x-20 with it.

Ok thanks
