Has others posted an answer, and then noticed either a typo, or a glaring error, and wanted the capability to go to that post and edit it so it is correct? I would think this would be a desirable feature, but I don't know the limitations of the software involved.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i simply dont make errors ;)

OpenStudy (radar):

I know that, and you are a fast typist that compensates.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i think the errors are useful in that the asker has the chance to correct us and shows a certain degree of understanding

OpenStudy (radar):

Oh so if you post an error is really isnt an error,it is a test. gotcha

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol ... um, exactly :)

OpenStudy (radar):

You may have a valid point there.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i figure, if i learn best from my own mistakes, then how much more it will help others too ...

OpenStudy (radar):

I take it you would not want to see such a feature? You could still make those "test" errors and leave them there to see if they are detected. It would be the users option to use such a feature.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i was taking a test in diffyQs and remembered to divide of the x^2 from the first term; to get a Wronskian value for the g(x); but when I constructed my W box I simply ignored it and wrote down the naked g(x) ... did a whole lot of thiss and thats that turned out wrong afterwards :/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the feature would find use, but i think the realtime interactions make up for alot of it

OpenStudy (radar):

It was just a thought, and it is quickly fading away. I am 100% for interaction.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i have often wanted to see the mistakings of the early mathikers like gauss and euler and burnooli; just to see how the mathings developed from error to error. seeing how they fashioned and refashioned it to what we got today would be a gold mine i think

OpenStudy (radar):

I am amazed what those old timers did, like how did Boltzsman develop his "constant" so accurately with the precision that was there with such crude tools, tools were dull but minds were sharp.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep :) ... good luck with your feature idea. ciao

OpenStudy (radar):

good bye, Thursday night is a good tv night lol, see ya

OpenStudy (radar):

Still think it would be a good feature.

We've sought to have the replies indicate an accurate history of the conversation that happened following a question. To that end, our general response to this request is that if you make an error you can correct it in a follow up post. That way, even if you delete the original post where you made a mistake, the general chronological order of replies is still valid. I don't foresee this changing unless we decide to change how we sort replies for the reason above.
