how do you think society changed in japan after ww1?

Japan suffered some economic setbacks in the 20's (like many nations did leading up to the Great Depression which started in '29) but that did little to curb its militant leanings. It still held onto Korea and its colonies as one of the victors in WW1 having proven itself as a strong industrial and military power. Unfortunately, its attempts at democracy were undermined by a powerful military attitude that continued to grow in power. People were soon being indoctrinated into believing that the nation was invincible and that they existed to serve the military and, above all, the emperor. This came to a head in the 30's prior to WW2 as the military's influence on the government continued to expand and nationalism exploded as Imperial Japan continued to stretch its borders. There were elections, but the results were largely influenced by military officers and politicians in government. Japan's thirst for resources and empire building would soon bring it into a long, protracted war in China and other European colonies in Southeast Asia, eventually bringing it into conflict with the United States.
